The York U Science department websites were redesigned as part of a university-wide website optimization project. Many department sites were built on misaligned platforms with outdated designs and confusing navigation. Information was hard to find, branding was inconsistent and accessibility needed improvement. Faculty, staff and students often struggled to locate what they needed and the scattered structure created a disjointed experience across the faculty’s websites.

Shanakay led the redesign of the outdated faculty profiles directory and redesigned the new directory website in WordPress. The old system made it difficult to find faculty and staff or keep profiles up to date. She designed and built a new searchable directory in WordPress with filtering and search, making it simple for visitors to find the right person as needed.
